Health and Safety statement
Split Second Coaching is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its players. We believe that it is important that players, coaches, administrators and parents associated with us should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Therefore, players are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of Split Second Coaching with Sally Bentley
Players Code of Practice
All players are expected to abide by the following junior code of practice:
All players must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.
All players must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of age, gender, ability, race, cultural background or religious beliefs or sexual identity.
Players should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team manager if they are going to be late.
Players must wear suitable kit, any colour comfortable clothes and safe training/PE type shoes for for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach/team manager.
Players must pay any fees for training or events promptly.
Junior players are not allowed to smoke on premises used by Split Second Coaching or whilst playing in competitions organised by Split Second Coaching.
Junior players are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind during coaching or competitions.
Parents & Carers Code of Practice
Encourage your child to learn the rules and play within them.
Discourage unfair play and arguing with officials.
Help your child to recognise good performance, not just results.
Never force your child to take part in sport.
Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances of all.
Never punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes.
Publicly accept officials' judgements.
Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their sport.
Use correct and proper language at all times.
Equity Policy
Split Second Coaching is committed to ensuring that equity is incorporated across all aspects of its development. In doing so it acknowledges and adopts the following Sport England definition of sports equity:
'Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society.'
Split Second Coaching respects the rights, dignity and worth of every person and will treat everyone equally within the context of their sport, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, ethnicity, religious belief, sexuality or social/economic status.
We are committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from threat of intimidation, harassment and abuse.
All players have a responsibility to oppose discriminatory behaviour and promote equality of opportunity.
Split Second Coaching will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behaviour seriously.
Guidelines for dealing with an incident/accident
Stay calm but act swiftly and observe the situation.
Is there danger of further injuries?
Listen to what the injured person is saying.
Alert the first aider who should take appropriate action for minor injuries.
In the event of an injury requiring specialist treatment, call the emergency services.
Deal with the rest of the group and ensure that they are adequately supervised.
Do not move someone with major injuries. Wait for the emergency medics.
Contact the injured person's parent/carer.
Complete an incident/accident report form with the following information:
Incident/accident Report Form
Name of person in charge of session/competition
Site where incident/accident took place
Date of incident/accident
Name of injured person
Address of injured person
Nature of incident/injury and extent of injury
Give details of how and precisely where the incident took place.
Describe what activity was taking place, for example training/game/getting changed.
Give full details of action taken during any first aid treatment and the name(s) of first aider(s).
Were any of the following contacted?
Parents/carers
Police
Ambulance
What happened to the injured person following the incident/accident?
E.g., carried on with session, went home, went to hospital etc.
All of the above facts are a true record of the accident/incident
